CALL TO WORSHIP, AND OPENING PRAYER
The Lord is risen. Alleluia!
Come, let us worship.
Give praise to the Father almighty,
to his Son, Jesus Christ, the Lord,
to the Spirit who dwells in our hearts,
both now and for ever. Amen.
Blessed and praised are you, God our Father,
for raising Christ our Lord from the dead
and giving us the hope of immortality.
words of gratitude and adoration may be said here
The joy of the resurrection renews the whole world:
a new age has dawned,
the reign of sin is ended,
a broken world is being renewed,
and humanity is once again made whole.
Blessed be God for ever!
PSALM, AND SCRIPTURE SONG
Psalm 97
1 The Lord is king! Let the earth rejoice;
let the many coastlands be glad!
2 Clouds and thick darkness are all around him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
3 Fire goes before him,
and consumes his adversaries on every side.
4 His lightnings light up the world;
the earth sees and trembles.
5 The mountains melt like wax before the Lord,
before the Lord of all the earth.
6 The heavens proclaim his righteousness;
and all the peoples behold his glory.
7 All worshippers of images are put to shame,
those who make their boast in worthless idols;
all gods bow down before him.
8 Zion hears and is glad,
and the towns* of Judah rejoice,
because of your judgements, O God.
9 For you, O Lord, are most high over all the earth;
you are exalted far above all gods.
10 The Lord loves those who hate* evil;
he guards the lives of his faithful;
he rescues them from the hand of the wicked.
11 Light dawns* for the righteous,
and joy for the upright in heart.
12 Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous,
and give thanks to his holy name!
Give praise to the Father almighty,
to his Son, Jesus Christ, the Lord;
to the Spirit who dwells in our hearts,
both now and for ever. Amen.
A Song of Deliverance
[Isaiah 12.2-6]
Behold, God is my salvation,
I will trust and will not be afraid;
for the Lord God is my strength and my song
and has become my salvation.
With joy you will draw water
from the wells of salvation.
On that day you will say:
Give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name;
make know his deeds among the nations,
proclaim that his name is exalted.
Sing God’s praises, who has triumphed gloriously,
let this be known in all the world.
Shout and sing for joy, you that dwell in Zion,
for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.
Give praise to the Father almighty,
to his Son, Jesus Christ, the Lord,
to the Spirit who dwells in our hearts,
both now and for ever. Amen.
SHORT READING
Luke 11.9-13
Jesus said, ‘I say to you, Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for a fish, will give a snake instead of a fish? Or if the child asks for an egg, will give a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!’

Like living stones, be built into a spiritual house.
Offer sacrifices acceptable to God. Be built into a spiritual house.

CANTICLE OF THE SEASON
A Song of the Church
(Te Deum)
We praise you, O God,
we acclaim you as Lord;
all creation worships you,
the Father everlasting.
To you all angels,
all the powers of heaven,
the cherubim and seraphim,
sing in endless praise:
Holy, holy, holy lord,
God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
The glorious company of apostles praise you.
The noble fellowship of prophets praise you.
The white-robed army of martyrs praise you.
Throughout the world the holy Church acclaims you:
Father, of majesty unbounded,
your true and only Son, worthy of all praise,
the Holy Spirit, advocate and guide.
You, Christ, are the king of glory,
the eternal Son of the Father.
When you took our flesh to set us free
you humbly chose the Virgin’s womb.
You overcame the sting of death
and opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers.
You are seated at God’s right hand in glory.
We believe that you will come to be our judge.
Come then, Lord, and help your people,
bought with the price of your own blood,
and bring us with your saints to glory everlasting.
THE LORD'S PRAYER,
thanksgiving, petition, intercession
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever. Amen.
a time for personal prayer and intercession …
… you may include this ‘Prayer for the Earth’:
Your Holy Spirit, Lord, like the wind,
sweeps over the face of the earth, giving life to the world.
We pray for those who seek to harness the power of the wind,
and for those concerned about the siting of wind turbines.
Grant wisdom and integrity to the people responsible
for forming opinions and making decisions.
… and sum up your own prayers with these responses:
Give thanks to the Lord for he is gracious;
he has loved us from all eternity.
By his cross and resurrection he has redeemed the world,
and has washed us from our sins in his blood.
On the third day he rose again,
and has given us the victory.
He ascended into heaven,
and opened for us the gate to everlasting life.
He is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and lives for ever to intercede for us.
A CONCLUDING PRAYER, AND ENDING
Light and life of the world,
Lord Jesus Christ,
keep the joy of Easter
alive in us always.
Let your light shine forth from us
that we may be witnesses
to your resurrection
and heirs to eternal life
in your kingdom,
where you are alive and reign
for ever and ever. Amen.
May Christ, who out of defeat has brought us hope,
fill us with new life. Amen.
